Background
Integras Intelligence provides investigative support for the security departments of many organizations. We supplement internal teams with electronic research and investigators throughout the world. Investigations are a 24/7 operation.
The Situation
The CEO of an internationally recognized, Global 500 company suddenly began to receive threatening emails from an individual believed to be in Ukraine. As the CEO and other executives frequently travel the globe, including Russia, the entire organization went on high alert.
Because several top executives planned to travel to the region two days later, the company had to quickly determine whether the threats were credible.
The firm’s Director of Security contacted Integras Intelligence at 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday. The deadline for information: noon on Monday. The Integras team had 26 hours to complete an investigation that would help the company assess the threat level.
By 11 a.m., the Integras Intelligence team had begun electronic research and contacted sources in Ukraine for on-site investigations. The team set a goal of a complete threat assessment by 10 a.m. on Monday, two hours before information had to be relayed to the client. The team prepared for an all-nighter.
The Findings
By 10 a.m. on Monday, the team had prepared a full threat assessment report, which included:
- The subject’s name, address, previous addresses, phone numbers, education, professional work history and political activities
- Information about the subject’s family members
- The subject’s lack of criminal records (confirmed by Ukrainian law enforcement)
- Background information revealing that the subject was considered a “small-time scammer” by authorities
- Interviews with neighbors indicating the subject did not have a full-time job but discussed “get-rich-quick” schemes often
The Results
As promised, the Director of Security received a full threat assessment report by noon on Monday. Based on the information provided, the organization determined that the individual did not pose a credible threat. The trip was completed without incident.
